Morgan blood was incorporated in 1965 Half Morgan "Calico Doll" ( AMHA Morgan General James X Feather "Calico Doll" was then bred to Foxton Teton AMHA Morgan Stallion to get RV Domonique.

We are a working horse ranch 1 hr SW of Denver with over 4000 acres divided into 20 pastures to provide rotational grazing to our horses and to client horses. We currently run around 40 head on the ranch. We have summer pasture for easy access, winter pasture with feed for young and older horses or easy access. Also have excellent grazing in winter pastures where we only have to feed when it is cold or snowy. Where a horse can be a horse.
Raising Morgans since 1975 we breed for temperment, type , gait& color.
Our Morgans are considered to be "Old Type" Morgans. Around 14.3 H -15.1, 1000# on average . Some of the Flyhawk blood , which our original Mare (SH Crescent) and her son ( Teton Easy Rythm) had, has produced some larger offspring such as Foxton Shadowhawk. Owned and driven by Larry (Vic) Vicroy.
Both of our Morgan stallions and a few of our mares are strongly gaited , doing a stepping pace, running walk and Foxtrot.
Foxton Nina', a competetive trail mare, can easily walk out at 8 m.p.h.. As many of you know the Morgan was the foundation for several breeds of today's horses including the Missouri Foxtrotter, Tennessee Walker and Quarter horse. The gating historically goes back to sons of Justin Morgan that were bred to Narragansett Pacer mares.
During the American Civil War the Morgan was the preferred breed to ride because of their gaiting, calm disposition and a big "heart". They were also bred to different horses because of their easy going and friendly temperment.
Our aim in our breeding program is to get a calm temperment, smooth gaiting and performance. We currently have several of our offspring doing competetive trail riding with the North American Trail Ride Conference NATRC.( see links on contact page) We provide young horses the space and opportunity to grow physiaclly, mentally and socially. Growing up in the mountains develops stong bone, muscle and ligaments. Giving them a head start.
Competetive trail is a 1 to 3 day ride of 30 -75 mi.. The 2 day ride is 50 mi.. There is a veterinarian to judge the horse on conditioning, manners and way of going. Then there is a horsemanship judge to judge the rider on equitaion, grooming, trail care and safety.
Its great fun and a way to get out with horse people that really know what they're doing. contact us and we'll get you more info. Or go to the NATRC website, www.natrc.org
We also use our Morgans and part Morgans for packing, driving, ranch work competetive trail and pleasure riding. That's the versatile Morgan.
